Surah As-Sajdah


Surah As-Sajdah (The Prostration) is the 32. surah in Quran.As-Sajdah surah is listed as the 75. by revelation order.

The meaning of surah As-Sajdah is The Prostration. In total this surah is consist of 30 auahs. You can read As-Sajdah by word by word if you would like to examine it in details or click one of the ayahs below to check that ayah only.

It is considered to be a Meccan surah as it was revealed in Mecca. The surah takes its name from ayah 15. 

The surah starts with the assurance of the Quran, It was revealed to Muhammed and not forged. The universe was created in six days according to God's conception of time. All men will be judged after the resurrection even if they do not believe it. As it was discussed in other Surahs, the unbelievers will try to repent but it will be too late. 

The surah wants humans to think and reflect on their own accord and decide what is right. The truth is all creation has a purpose. Everything points towards one powerful creator for this universe. 

32:1
Alif, Lām, Meem.
Alif-Laaam-Meeem
الم
32:2
[This is] the revelation of the Book about which there is no doubt from the Lord of the worlds.
Tanzeelul Kitaabi laa raiba feehi mir rabbil ‘aalameen
تنزيل ٱلكتـب لا ريب فيه من رب ٱلعـلمين
32:3
Or do they say, "He invented it"? Rather, it is the truth from your Lord, [O Muḥammad], that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you [so] perhaps they will be guided.
Am yaqooloonaf taraahu bal huwal haqqu mir rabbika litunzira qawma maaa ataahum min nazeerim min qablika la’allahum yahtadoon
أم يقولون ٱفترىه بل هو ٱلحق من ربك لتنذر قوما ما أتىهم من نذير من قبلك لعلهم يهتدون
32:4
It is Allāh who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them in six days; then He established Himself above the Throne. You have not besides Him any protector or any intercessor; so will you not be reminded?
Allaahul lazee khalaqas samaawaati wal arda wa maa bainahumaa fee sittati ayyaamin thummas tawaa ‘alal ‘arsh; maa lakum min doonihee minw-waliyyinw-wala shafee’; afalaa tatazakkaroon
ٱلله ٱلذى خلق ٱلسمـوت وٱلأرض وما بينهما فى ستة أيام ثم ٱستوى على ٱلعرش ما لكم من دونهۦ من ولى ولا شفيع أفلا تتذكرون
32:5
He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count.
Yudabbirul amra minas samaaa’i ilal ardi thumma ya’ruju ilaihi fee yawmin kaana miqdaaruhooo alfa sanatim mimmaa ta’uddoon
يدبر ٱلأمر من ٱلسماء إلى ٱلأرض ثم يعرج إليه فى يوم كان مقدارهۥ ألف سنة مما تعدون
32:6
That is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
Zaalika ‘aalimul ghaybi wa shahaadatil ‘azeezur raheem
ذلك عـلم ٱلغيب وٱلشهـدة ٱلعزيز ٱلرحيم
32:7
Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay.
Allazee ahsana kulla shai in khalaqa; wa bada a khalqal insaani min teen
ٱلذى أحسن كل شىء خلقهۥ وبدأ خلق ٱلإنسـن من طين
32:8
Then He made his posterity out of the extract of a liquid disdained.
Thumma ja’ala naslahoo min sulaalatim mim maaa’immaheen
ثم جعل نسلهۥ من سلـلة من ماء مهين
32:9
Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His [created] soul and made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful.
Thumma sawwaahu wa nafakha feehi mir roohihih; wa ja’ala lakumus sam’a wal-absaara wal-af’idah; qaleelam maa tashkuroon
ثم سوىه ونفخ فيه من روحهۦ وجعل لكم ٱلسمع وٱلأبصـر وٱلأفـدة قليلا ما تشكرون
32:10
And they say, "When we are lost [i.e., disintegrated] within the earth, will we indeed be [recreated] in a new creation?" Rather, they are, in the meeting with their Lord, disbelievers.
Wa qaalooo ‘a-izaa dalalnaa fil ardi ‘a-innaa lafee khalqin jadeed; bal hum biliqaaa’i rabbihim kaafiroon
وقالوا أءذا ضللنا فى ٱلأرض أءنا لفى خلق جديد بل هم بلقاء ربهم كـفرون
32:11
Say, "The angel of death who has been entrusted with you will take you. Then to your Lord you will be returned."
Qul yatawaffaakum malakul mawtil lazee wukkila bikum Thumma ilaa rabbikum turja’oon (section 1)
قل يتوفىكم ملك ٱلموت ٱلذى وكل بكم ثم إلى ربكم ترجعون
32:12
If you could but see when the criminals are hanging their heads before their Lord, [saying], "Our Lord, we have seen and heard, so return us [to the world]; we will work righteousness. Indeed, we are [now] certain."
Wa law taraaa izil mujrimoona naakisoo ru’oosihim ‘inda rabbihim rabbanaaa absarnaa wa sami’naa farji’naa na’mal saalihan innaa mooqinoon
ولو ترى إذ ٱلمجرمون ناكسوا رءوسهم عند ربهم ربنا أبصرنا وسمعنا فٱرجعنا نعمل صـلحا إنا موقنون
32:13
And if We had willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me will come into effect [that] "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and people all together.
Wa law shi’naa la-aatainaa kulla nafsin hudaahaa wa laakin haqqal qawlu minnee la amla’anna jahannama minal jinnati wannaasi ajma’een
ولو شئنا لـاتينا كل نفس هدىها ولـكن حق ٱلقول منى لأملأن جهنم من ٱلجنة وٱلناس أجمعين
32:14
So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do."
Fazooqoo bimaa naseetum liqaaa’a yawmikum haaza innaa naseenaakum wa zooqoo ‘azaabal khuldi bimaa kuntum ta’maloon
فذوقوا بما نسيتم لقاء يومكم هـذا إنا نسينـكم وذوقوا عذاب ٱلخلد بما كنتم تعملون
32:15
Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allāh] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.
Innamaa yu’minu bi aayaatinal lazeena izaa zukkiroo bihaa kharroo sujjadanw wa sabbahoo bihamdi rabbihim wa hum laa yastakbiroon (make sajda)
إنما يؤمن بـايـتنا ٱلذين إذا ذكروا بها خروا سجدا وسبحوا بحمد ربهم وهم لا يستكبرون
32:16
Their sides part [i.e., they arise] from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend.
Tatajaafaa junoobuhum ‘anil madaaji’i yad’oona rabbahum khawfanw wa tama’anw wa mimmaa razaqnaahum yunfiqoon
تتجافى جنوبهم عن ٱلمضاجع يدعون ربهم خوفا وطمعا ومما رزقنـهم ينفقون
32:17
And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes [i.e., satisfaction] as reward for what they used to do.
Falaa ta’lamu nafsum maaa ukhfiya lahum min qurrati a’yunin jazaaa’am bimaa kaanoo ya’maloon
فلا تعلم نفس ما أخفى لهم من قرة أعين جزاء بما كانوا يعملون
32:18
Then is one who was a believer like one who was defiantly disobedient? They are not equal.
Afaman kaana mu’minan kaman kaana faasiqaa; laa yasta woon
أفمن كان مؤمنا كمن كان فاسقا لا يستوۥن
32:19
As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, for them will be the Gardens of Refuge as accommodation for what they used to do.
Ammal lazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati falahum jannaatul ma’waa nuzulam bimaa kaanoo ya’maloon
أما ٱلذين ءامنوا وعملوا ٱلصـلحـت فلهم جنـت ٱلمأوى نزلا بما كانوا يعملون
32:20
But as for those who defiantly disobeyed, their refuge is the Fire. Every time they wish to emerge from it, they will be returned to it while it is said to them, "Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny."
Wa ammal lazeena fasaqoo fama’waahumun Naaru kullamaaa araadooo any yakhrujoo minhaaa u’eedoo feehaa wa qeela lahum zooqoo ‘azaaaban Naaril lazee kuntum bihee tukazziboon
وأما ٱلذين فسقوا فمأوىهم ٱلنار كلما أرادوا أن يخرجوا منها أعيدوا فيها وقيل لهم ذوقوا عذاب ٱلنار ٱلذى كنتم بهۦ تكذبون
32:21
And We will surely let them taste the nearer punishment short of the greater punishment that perhaps they will return [i.e., repent].
Wa lanuzeeqan nahum minal ‘azaabil adnaa doonal ‘azaabil akbari la’allahum yarji’oon
ولنذيقنهم من ٱلعذاب ٱلأدنى دون ٱلعذاب ٱلأكبر لعلهم يرجعون
32:22
And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them? Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution.
Wa man azlamu mimman zukkira bi aayaati rabbihee summa a’rada ‘anhaa; innaa minal mujrimeena muntaqimoon (section 2)
ومن أظلم ممن ذكر بـايـت ربهۦ ثم أعرض عنها إنا من ٱلمجرمين منتقمون
32:23
And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture, so do not be in doubt over his meeting. And We made it [i.e., the Torah] guidance for the Children of Israel.
Wa laqad aatainaa Moosal Kitaaba falaa takun fee miryatim mil liqaaa’ihee wa ja’alnaahu hudal li Baneee Israaa’eel
ولقد ءاتينا موسى ٱلكتـب فلا تكن فى مرية من لقائهۦ وجعلنـه هدى لبنى إسرءيل
32:24
And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs.
Wa ja’alnaa minhum a’immatany yahdoona bi amrinaa lammaa sabaroo wa kaanoo bi aayaatinaa yooqinoon
وجعلنا منهم أئمة يهدون بأمرنا لما صبروا وكانوا بـايـتنا يوقنون
32:25
Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
Inna rabbaka huwa yafsilu bainahum yawmal qiyaamati feemaa kaanoo feehi yakhtalifoon
إن ربك هو يفصل بينهم يوم ٱلقيـمة فيما كانوا فيه يختلفون
32:26
Has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them, [as] they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs; then do they not hear?
Awalam yahdi lahum kam ahlaknaa min qablihim minal qurooni yamshoona fee masaakinihim; inna fee zaalika la aayaatin afalaa yasma’oon
أولم يهد لهم كم أهلكنا من قبلهم من ٱلقرون يمشون فى مسـكنهم إن فى ذلك لـايـت أفلا يسمعون
32:27
Have they not seen that We drive water [in clouds] to barren land and bring forth thereby crops from which their livestock eat and [they] themselves? Then do they not see?
Awalam yaraw annaa nasooqul maaa’a ilal ardil juruzi fanukhriju bihee zar’an ta’kulu minhu an’aamuhum wa anfusuhum afalaa yubsiroon
أولم يروا أنا نسوق ٱلماء إلى ٱلأرض ٱلجرز فنخرج بهۦ زرعا تأكل منه أنعـمهم وأنفسهم أفلا يبصرون
32:28
And they say, "When will be this conquest, if you should be truthful?"
Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal fath hu in kuntum saadiqeen
ويقولون متى هـذا ٱلفتح إن كنتم صـدقين
32:29
Say, [O Muḥammad], "On the Day of Conquest the belief of those who had disbelieved will not benefit them, nor will they be reprieved."
Qul yawmal fath hi laa yanfa’ul lazeena kafarooo eemaanuhum wa laa hum yunzaroon
قل يوم ٱلفتح لا ينفع ٱلذين كفروا إيمـنهم ولا هم ينظرون
32:30
So turn away from them and wait. Indeed, they are waiting.
Fa a’rid ‘anhum wantazir innahum muntaziroon (section 3)
فأعرض عنهم وٱنتظر إنهم منتظرون
