Quran, the one and only source of Islam, has total of 114 surahs.Out of all these surahs, 86 of them were considered to be revealed in Mecca and 28 of them in Medina. Arrangement of Surahs was done during the four caliphates and did not follow the revelation order of the surahs. The revelation order is also shown down below.
The first surah revealed was Al-Alaq but the arrangement of surahs puts Al-Fatiha as the first surah on the list. In the meantime, the names of Surahs were put by the people who were arranging them. Al-Fatiha means “The opener/opening” as it was put as the first surah of the Quran.
The Quran includes a total of 114 Surah and these Surah in total has 6236 ayahs and 76827 words.
