This surah starts with oaths to dawn and night and proclaims that these are the signs for people who use their brain. After this it gives examples from the rebellious nations such as Ad, Thamud, Iram and Pharoah. These nations transgressed and as a result were punished. The main lesson from this is to not be arrogant, people get distracted by this world and think of themselves as greater than they are.
The next part mentions for believers to be aware of neglecting to do good. It is a reminder that in order for us to enter his paradise we need to deliberately and consciously seek and do good acts. This is how we can earn our just reward.
