purchases

righteous deeds

for them

(are) Gardens

jannātu (جَنَّاتُ)

(of) Delight

(To) abide forever

(The) Promise

the heavens

have created

those

Nay

bali (بَلِ)

the wrongdoers

clear

Luqman

the wisdom

l-ḥik'mata (الْحِكْمَةَ)

that

Be grateful

ush'kur (اشْكُرْ)

31:12:7

to Allah

lillahi (لِلَّهِ)

31:12:8

And whoever

waman (وَمَنْ)

31:12:9

(is) grateful

yashkur (يَشْكُرْ)

31:12:10

then only

fa-innamā (فَإِنَّمَا)

31:12:11

he is grateful

yashkuru (يَشْكُرُ)

31:12:12

for himself

linafsihi (لِنَفْسِهِ)

31:12:13

And whoever

waman (وَمَنْ)

31:12:14

(is) ungrateful

kafara (كَفَرَ)

then indeed

fa-inna (فَإِنَّ)

Allah

l-laha (اللَّهَ)

(is) Free of need

ghaniyyun (غَنِيٌّ)

Praiseworthy

associate partners

with Allah

Indeed

associating partners

(is) surely an injustice

great

And We have enjoined

wawaṣṣaynā (وَوَصَّيْنَا)

(upon) man

l-insāna (الْإِنْسَانَ)

for his parents

biwālidayhi (بِوَالِدَيْهِ)

31:14:4

carried him

ḥamalathu (حَمَلَتْهُ)

his mother

ummuhu (أُمُّهُ)

(in) weakness

wahnan (وَهْنًا)

upon

ʿalā (عَلَى)

weakness

wahnin (وَهْنٍ)

and his weaning

wafiṣāluhu (وَفِصَالُهُ)

(is) in

two years

Be grateful

and to your parents

(is) the destination

they strive against you

obey both of them

But accompany them

and amply bestowed

His Bounties

the most trustworthy

Allah

(is in) the breasts

l-ṣudūri (الصُّدُورِ)

We grant them enjoyment

numattiʿuhum (نُمَتِّعُهُمْ)

(for) a little

qalīlan (قَلِيلًا)

We will force them
