(his) hands

they saw it

(as) a cloud

their valleys

(is) a cloud

bringing us rain

We have established you

wajaʿalnā (وَجَعَلْنَا)

for them

lahum (لَهُمْ)

hearing

and vision

wa-abṣāran (وَأَبْصَارًا)

and hearts

wa-afidatan (وَأَفْئِدَةً)

But not

famā (فَمَا)

availed

aghnā (أَغْنَى)

them

their hearing

their vision

the towns

and We have diversified

waṣarrafnā (وَصَرَّفْنَا)

the Signs

l-āyāti (الْءَايَاتِ)

that they may

laʿallahum (لَعَلَّهُمْ)

ل ع ل ل (root)

return

yarjiʿūna (يَرْجِعُونَ)

Then why (did) not

falawlā (فَلَوْلَا)

help them

naṣarahumu (نَصَرَهُمُ)

those whom

alladhīna (الَّذِينَ)

they had taken

ittakhadhū (اتَّخَذُوا)

besides

dūni (دُونِ)

Allah

l-lahi (اللَّهِ)

sacrifice

qur'bānan (قُرْبَانًا)

(to their) gods

Nay

they were lost

(was) their falsehood

they were

inventing

We directed

to you

ilayka (إِلَيْكَ)

a party

nafaran (نَفَرًا)

the jinn

l-jini (الْجِنِّ)

listening

yastamiʿūna (يَسْتَمِعُونَ)

(to) the Quran

l-qur'āna (الْقُرْءَانَ)

falammā (فَلَمَّا)

they attended it

Listen quietly

it was concluded

they turned back

(as) warners

Indeed we

He will forgive

and will protect you

and (was) not

tired

by their creation

(is) able

to give life
