your Lord

so you would fear
fatakhshā (فَتَخْشَى)

Then he showed him

the sign

the great
l-kub'rā (الْكُبْرَى)

But he denied
fakadhaba (فَكَذَّبَ)

and disobeyed

he turned his back
adbara (أَدْبَرَ)

yasʿā (يَسْعَى)

And he gathered

and called out

your Lord

the Most High

So seized him

Allah

(with) an exemplary punishment

a more difficult

the heaven

He constructed it

He raised

its ceiling

and proportioned it
fasawwāhā (فَسَوَّاهَا)

And He darkened
wa-aghṭasha (وَأَغْطَشَ)

its night
laylahā (لَيْلَهَا)
79:29:3
and brought out
wa-akhraja (وَأَخْرَجَ)
79:29:4
its brightness
ḍuḥāhā (ضُحَاهَا)
79:30:1
And the earth
wal-arḍa (وَالْأَرْضَ)
79:30:2
after
baʿda (بَعْدَ)
79:30:3
that
dhālika (ذَلِكَ)
79:30:4
He spread it
daḥāhā (دَحَاهَا)
79:31:1
He brought forth
akhraja (أَخْرَجَ)
79:31:2
from it
min'hā (مِنْهَا)
79:31:3
its water
māahā (مَاءَهَا)
79:31:4
and its pasture
wamarʿāhā (وَمَرْعَاهَا)
79:32:1
And the mountains
wal-jibāla (وَالْجِبَالَ)
79:32:2
He made them firm
arsāhā (أَرْسَاهَا)

(As) a provision
matāʿan (مَتَاعًا)
79:33:2
for you
lakum (لَكُمْ)
79:33:3
and for your cattle
wali-anʿāmikum (وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ)
79:34:1
But when
fa-idhā (فَإِذَا)

comes
jāati (جَاءَتِ)
79:34:3
the Overwhelming Calamity
l-ṭāmatu (الطَّامَّةُ)

the great
l-kub'rā (الْكُبْرَى)

(The) Day
yawma (يَوْمَ)

will remember
yatadhakkaru (يَتَذَكَّرُ)
79:35:3

l-insānu (الْإِنْسَانُ)

he strove (for)

And will be made manifest

the Hellfire

the Hellfire
l-jaḥīma (الْجَحِيمَ)

(is) the refuge
l-mawā (الْمَأْوَى)

But as for
wa-ammā (وَأَمَّا)

(him) who
man (مَنْ)
79:40:3
feared
khāfa (خَافَ)

standing
maqāma (مَقَامَ)
79:40:5
(before) his Lord
rabbihi (رَبِّهِ)
79:40:6
and restrained
wanahā (وَنَهَى)
79:40:7
his soul
l-nafsa (النَّفْسَ)

from
ʿani (عَنِ)
79:40:9
the vain desires
l-hawā (الْهَوَى)

Then indeed
fa-inna (فَإِنَّ)

Paradise
l-janata (الْجَنَّةَ)

it (is)
hiya (هِيَ)

the refuge
l-mawā (الْمَأْوَى)

They ask you
yasalūnaka (يَسْءَلُونَكَ)

about
ʿani (عَنِ)

the Hour
l-sāʿati (السَّاعَةِ)

when
ayyāna (أَيَّانَ)

(is) its arrival
mur'sāhā (مُرْسَاهَا)
