Surah Al-Adiyat


Surah Al-Adiyat (The Courser) is the 100. surah in Quran.Al-Adiyat surah is listed as the 14. by revelation order.

It is considered to be a Meccan Surah as it was believed to be revealed in Mecca. This surah takes its name from the word mentioned in the first ayah.

The surah begins with oaths that humans are ungrateful to God. Humans love the riches of this world but do not know when the day of resurrection comes, God will know all their secrets. Important message of this surah is to make people realize how evil a person can become when they fall for the worldly desires and forget about the afterlife.

100:1
By the racers, panting,
Wal’aadi yaati dabha
وٱلعـديـت ضبحا
100:2
And the producers of sparks [when] striking
Fal moori yaati qadha
فٱلموريـت قدحا
100:3
And the chargers at dawn,
Fal mugheeraati subha
فٱلمغيرت صبحا
100:4
Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,
Fa atharna bihee naq’a
فأثرن بهۦ نقعا
100:5
Arriving thereby in the center collectively,
Fawa satna bihee jam’a
فوسطن بهۦ جمعا
100:6
Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.
Innal-insana lirabbihee lakanood
إن ٱلإنسـن لربهۦ لكنود
100:7
And indeed, he is to that a witness.
Wa innahu ‘alaa zaalika la shaheed
وإنهۥ على ذلك لشهيد
100:8
And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.
Wa innahu lihubbil khairi la shadeed
وإنهۥ لحب ٱلخير لشديد
100:9
But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered
Afala ya’lamu iza b’uthira ma filquboor
أفلا يعلم إذا بعثر ما فى ٱلقبور
100:10
And that within the breasts is obtained,
Wa hussila maa fis sudoor
وحصل ما فى ٱلصدور
100:11
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.
Inna rabbahum bihim yauma ‘izin lakhabeer
إن ربهم بهم يومئذ لخبير
