The main theme of this surah is the hypocrites among the believers. These are the people that drive away the orphans, do not feed the poor. They act like they pray doing their daily prayers but in reality they are just showing off and not really praying to God. They deviate, they show off, prevent public rights and goodness.

This surah warns believers against the hypocrites in their community. They might look like believers from outside but in reality they are just faking to pray for the sake of getting recognition and acceptance. In some cases, they fake their prayers for political gain or wealth.

107:1
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
Ara ‘aytal lazee yukazzibu biddeen
أرءيت ٱلذى يكذب بٱلدين
107:2
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
Fazaalikal lazee yadu’ul-yateem
فذلك ٱلذى يدع ٱليتيم
107:3
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
Wa la yahuddu ‘alaa ta’aamil miskeen
ولا يحض على طعام ٱلمسكين
107:4
So woe to those who pray
Fa wailul-lil musalleen
فويل للمصلين
107:5
[But] who are heedless of their prayer -
Allazeena hum ‘an salaatihim saahoon
ٱلذين هم عن صلاتهم ساهون
107:6
Those who make show [of their deeds]
Allazeena hum yuraaa’oon
ٱلذين هم يراءون
107:7
And withhold [simple] assistance.
Wa yamna’oonal maa’oon
ويمنعون ٱلماعون
