Surah Nuh


Surah Nuh (Noah) is the 71. surah in Quran.Nuh surah is listed as the 71. by revelation order.

The meaning of surah Nuh is Noah. In total this surah is consist of 28 auahs. You can read Nuh by word by word if you would like to examine it in details or click one of the ayahs below to check that ayah only.

It is considered to be a Meccan Surah as it was believed to be revealed in Mecca. The name of this surah is Noah because the theme of the surah is prophet Noah.

This surah is about the prophet Noah and his complaint about his people rejecting all warnings Allah gave them through Noah. Noah’s themes include belief in Allah, signs of Allah (the Earth, Sun, Moon), and punishment for denying Allah's message.

Noah is a messenger of God and He tried to warn his people with the message of God. He tried to warn them with different methods but in the end they only ridiculed him. Noah prayed God for help and God flooded the unbelievers and save the Noah and his followers.

71:1
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."
Innaaa arsalnaa Noohan ilaa qawmihee an anzir qawmaka min qabli any yaatiyahum ‘azaabun aleem
إنا أرسلنا نوحا إلى قومهۦ أن أنذر قومك من قبل أن يأتيهم عذاب أليم
71:2
He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner -
Qaala yaa qawmi innee lakum nazeerum mubeen
قال يـقوم إنى لكم نذير مبين
71:3
To worship Allāh, fear Him and obey me.
Ani’-budul laaha watta qoohu wa atee’oon
أن ٱعبدوا ٱلله وٱتقوه وأطيعون
71:4
He [i.e., Allāh] will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allāh, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew."
Yaghfir lakum min zunoobikum wa yu’akhkhirkum ilaaa ajalim musammaa; innaa ajalal laahi izaa jaaa’a laa yu’akhkhar; law kuntum ta’lamoon
يغفر لكم من ذنوبكم ويؤخركم إلى أجل مسمى إن أجل ٱلله إذا جاء لا يؤخر لو كنتم تعلمون
71:5
He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day.
Qaala rabbi innee da’awtu qawmee lailanw wa naharaa
قال رب إنى دعوت قومى ليلا ونهارا
71:6
But my invitation increased them not except in flight [i.e., aversion].
Falam yazid hum du’aaa ‘eee illaa firaaraa
فلم يزدهم دعاءى إلا فرارا
71:7
And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.
Wa inee kullamaa da’awtuhum litaghfira lahum ja’alooo asaabi’ahum fee aazaanihim wastaghshaw siyaabahum wa asaarroo wastakbarus tikbaaraa
وإنى كلما دعوتهم لتغفر لهم جعلوا أصـبعهم فى ءاذانهم وٱستغشوا ثيابهم وأصروا وٱستكبروا ٱستكبارا
71:8
Then I invited them publicly.
Summa innee da’aw tuhum jihaara
ثم إنى دعوتهم جهارا
71:9
Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly
Summaa inneee a’lantu lahum wa asrartu lahum israaraa
ثم إنى أعلنت لهم وأسررت لهم إسرارا
71:10
And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.
Faqultus taghfiroo Rabakum innahoo kaana Ghaffaaraa
فقلت ٱستغفروا ربكم إنهۥ كان غفارا
71:11
He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers
Yursilis samaaa’a ‘alaikum midraaraa
يرسل ٱلسماء عليكم مدرارا
71:12
And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.
Wa yumdidkum bi am waalinw wa baneena wa yaj’al lakum Jannaatinw wa yaj’al lakum anhaaraa
ويمددكم بأمول وبنين ويجعل لكم جنـت ويجعل لكم أنهـرا
71:13
What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allāh [due] grandeur
Maa lakum laa tarjoona lillaahi waqaaraa
ما لكم لا ترجون لله وقارا
71:14
While He has created you in stages?
Wa qad khalaqakum at waaraa
وقد خلقكم أطوارا
71:15
Do you not consider how Allāh has created seven heavens in layers
Alam taraw kaifa khalaqal laahu sab’a samaawaatin tibaaqaa
ألم تروا كيف خلق ٱلله سبع سمـوت طباقا
71:16
And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp?
Wa ja’alal qamara feehinna nooranw wa ja’alash shamsa siraajaa
وجعل ٱلقمر فيهن نورا وجعل ٱلشمس سراجا
71:17
And Allāh has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.
Wallaahu ambatakum minal ardi nabaataa
وٱلله أنبتكم من ٱلأرض نباتا
71:18
Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.
Summa yu’eedukum feehaa wa yukhrijukum ikhraajaa
ثم يعيدكم فيها ويخرجكم إخراجا
71:19
And Allāh has made for you the earth an expanse
Wallaahu ja’ala lakumul arda bisaataa
وٱلله جعل لكم ٱلأرض بساطا
71:20
That you may follow therein roads of passage.'"
Litaslukoo minhaa subulan fijaajaa
لتسلكوا منها سبلا فجاجا
71:21
Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.
Qaala Noohur Rabbi innahum ‘asawnee wattaba’oo mal lam yazid hu maaluhoo wa waladuhooo illaa khasaara
قال نوح رب إنهم عصونى وٱتبعوا من لم يزده مالهۥ وولدهۥ إلا خسارا
71:22
And they conspired an immense conspiracy
Wa makaroo makran kubbaaraa
ومكروا مكرا كبارا
71:23
And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwāʿ or Yaghūth and Yaʿūq and Nasr.'
Wa qaaloo laa tazarunna aalihatakum wa laa tazarunna Waddanw wa laa Suwaa’anw wa laa Yaghoosa wa Ya’ooqa wa Nasraa
وقالوا لا تذرن ءالهتكم ولا تذرن ودا ولا سواعا ولا يغوث ويعوق ونسرا
71:24
And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."
Wa qad adalloo kasee ranw wa laa tazidiz zaalimeena illaa dalaalaa
وقد أضلوا كثيرا ولا تزد ٱلظـلمين إلا ضلـلا
71:25
Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allāh [any] helpers.
Mimmaa khateee’ aatihim ughriqoo fa udkhiloo Naaran falam yajidoo lahum min doonil laahi ansaaraa
مما خطيــتهم أغرقوا فأدخلوا نارا فلم يجدوا لهم من دون ٱلله أنصارا
71:26
And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.
Wa qaala Noohur Rabbi laa tazar ‘alal ardi minal kaafireena daiyaaraa
وقال نوح رب لا تذر على ٱلأرض من ٱلكـفرين ديارا
71:27
Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.
Innaka in tazarhum yudil loo ‘ibaadaka wa laa yalidooo illaa faajiran kaffaaraa
إنك إن تذرهم يضلوا عبادك ولا يلدوا إلا فاجرا كفارا
71:28
My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction."
Rabbigh fir lee wa liwaa lidaiya wa liman dakhala baitiya mu’minanw wa lil mu’mineena wal mu’minaati wa laa tazidiz zaalimeena illaa tabaaraa
رب ٱغفر لى ولولدى ولمن دخل بيتى مؤمنا وللمؤمنين وٱلمؤمنـت ولا تزد ٱلظـلمين إلا تبارا
