Surah Al-Qiyamah


Surah Al-Qiyamah (The Resurrection) is the 75. surah in Quran.Al-Qiyamah surah is listed as the 31. by revelation order.

The meaning of surah Al-Qiyamah is The Resurrection. In total this surah is consist of 40 auahs. You can read Al-Qiyamah by word by word if you would like to examine it in details or click one of the ayahs below to check that ayah only.

It is considered to be a Meccan Surah as it was believed to be revealed in Mecca. The name of surah comes from its theme of describing the day of judgment. 

The surah starts with humans not believing that God will be able to resurrect them. It continues to explain the signs of the resurrection day. There will be both believers and unbelievers on the day of judgment and they will be known by their specific features.

Middle of the surah says that when the quran is read, listen to it and wait for its explanation. The end of the surah explains the creation of humans from just sperm. 

Fourth ayah is an example of scientific miracles of the Quran as it describes how special and unique the fingertips are. Fingerprints being unique to every human being is an information that was discovered by modern science much later.

75:1
I swear by the Day of Resurrection
Laaa uqsimu bi yawmil qiyaamah
لا أقسم بيوم ٱلقيـمة
75:2
And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].
Wa laaa uqsimu bin nafsil lawwaamah
ولا أقسم بٱلنفس ٱللوامة
75:3
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?
Ayahsabul insaanu al lan najm’a ‘izaamah
أيحسب ٱلإنسـن ألن نجمع عظامهۥ
75:4
Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.
Balaa qaadireena ‘alaaa an nusawwiya banaanah
بلى قـدرين على أن نسوى بنانهۥ
75:5
But man desires to continue in sin.
Bal yureedul insaanu liyafjura amaamah
بل يريد ٱلإنسـن ليفجر أمامهۥ
75:6
He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"
Yas’alu ayyyaana yawmul qiyaamah
يسـل أيان يوم ٱلقيـمة
75:7
So when vision is dazzled.
Fa izaa bariqal basar
فإذا برق ٱلبصر
75:8
And the moon darkens.
Wa khasafal qamar
وخسف ٱلقمر
75:9
And the sun and the moon are joined,
Wa jumi’ash shamsu wal qamar
وجمع ٱلشمس وٱلقمر
75:10
Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"
Yaqoolul insaanu yaw ma ‘izin aynal mafarr
يقول ٱلإنسـن يومئذ أين ٱلمفر
75:11
No! There is no refuge.
Kallaa laa wazar
كلا لا وزر
75:12
To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.
Ilaa rabbika yawma ‘izinil mustaqarr
إلى ربك يومئذ ٱلمستقر
75:13
Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back.
Yunabba ‘ul insaanu yawma ‘izim bimaa qaddama wa akhkhar
ينبؤا ٱلإنسـن يومئذ بما قدم وأخر
75:14
Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,
Balil insaanu ‘alaa nafsihee baseerah
بل ٱلإنسـن على نفسهۦ بصيرة
75:15
Even if he presents his excuses.
Wa law alqaa ma’aazeerah
ولو ألقى معاذيرهۥ
75:16
Move not your tongue with it, [O Muḥammad], to hasten with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān].
Laa tuharrik bihee lisaa naka lita’jala bih
لا تحرك بهۦ لسانك لتعجل بهۦ
75:17
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
Inna ‘alainaa jam’ahoo wa qur aanah
إن علينا جمعهۥ وقرءانهۥ
75:18
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
Fa izaa qaraanaahu fattabi’ qur aanah
فإذا قرأنـه فٱتبع قرءانهۥ
75:19
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
Summa inna ‘alainaa bayaanah
ثم إن علينا بيانهۥ
75:20
No! But you [i.e., mankind] love the immediate
Kallaa bal tuhibboonal ‘aajilah
كلا بل تحبون ٱلعاجلة
75:21
And leave [i.e., neglect] the Hereafter.
Wa tazaroonal Aakhirah
وتذرون ٱلـاخرة
75:22
[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,
Wujoohuny yawma ‘izin naadirah
وجوه يومئذ ناضرة
75:23
Looking at their Lord.
Ilaa rabbihaa naazirah
إلى ربها ناظرة
75:24
And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,
Wa wujoohuny yawma ‘izim baasirah
ووجوه يومئذ باسرة
75:25
Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.
Tazunnu any yuf’ala bihaa faaqirah
تظن أن يفعل بها فاقرة
75:26
No! When it [i.e., the soul] has reached the collar bones
Kallaaa izaa balaghatit taraaqee
كلا إذا بلغت ٱلتراقى
75:27
And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"
Wa qeela man raaq
وقيل من راق
75:28
And he [i.e., the dying one] is certain that it is the [time of] separation
Wa zanna annahul firaaq
وظن أنه ٱلفراق
75:29
And the leg is wound about the leg,
Waltaffatis saaqu bissaaq
وٱلتفت ٱلساق بٱلساق
75:30
To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.
Ilaa rabbika yawma’izinil masaaq
إلى ربك يومئذ ٱلمساق
75:31
And he [i.e., the disbeliever] had not believed, nor had he prayed.
Falaa saddaqa wa laa sallaa
فلا صدق ولا صلى
75:32
But [instead], he denied and turned away.
Wa laakin kazzaba wa tawalla
ولـكن كذب وتولى
75:33
And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].
Summa zahaba ilaaa ahlihee yatamatta
ثم ذهب إلى أهلهۦ يتمطى
75:34
Woe to you, and woe!
Awlaa laka fa awlaa
أولى لك فأولى
75:35
Then woe to you, and woe!
Summa awlaa laka fa awla
ثم أولى لك فأولى
75:36
Does man think that he will be left neglected?
Ayahsabul insaanu ai yutraka sudaa
أيحسب ٱلإنسـن أن يترك سدى
75:37
Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?
Alam yaku nutfatam mim maniyyiny yumnaa
ألم يك نطفة من منى يمنى
75:38
Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allāh] created [his form] and proportioned [him]
Summa kaana ‘alaqatan fakhalaqa fasawwaa
ثم كان علقة فخلق فسوى
75:39
And made of him two mates, the male and the female.
Faja’ala minhuz zawjayniz zakara wal unsaa
فجعل منه ٱلزوجين ٱلذكر وٱلأنثى
75:40
Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?
Alaisa zaalika biqaadirin ‘alaaa any yuhyiyal mawtaa
أليس ذلك بقـدر على أن يحـى ٱلموتى
