Surah Al-Insan


Surah Al-Insan (The Man) is the 76. surah in Quran.Al-Insan surah is listed as the 98. by revelation order.

The meaning of surah Al-Insan is The Man. In total this surah is consist of 31 auahs. You can read Al-Insan by word by word if you would like to examine it in details or click one of the ayahs below to check that ayah only.

It is considered to be a Medinan Surah as it was believed to be revealed in Medina. The name of surah comes from its theme of humans.

God has created humans from just sperm and guided them to the straight path. It is up to them to follow the straight path or stray away. Anyone who follows the straight path and becomes a good human being will be rewarded both in this world and in the next.

Middle of the surah describes the reward of the righteous, paradise. It continues to ask believers to be patient and pray to God day and night. The final part retells one of the main themes of the Quran that the Quran is just a reminder and only the willing will take heed and they will only do so by the will of Allah.

76:1
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?
Hal ataa ‘alal insaani heenum minad dahri lam yakun shai’am mazkooraa
هل أتى على ٱلإنسـن حين من ٱلدهر لم يكن شيـا مذكورا
76:2
Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing.
Innaa khalaqnal insaana min nutfatin amshaajin nabta leehi faja’alnaahu samee’am baseeraa
إنا خلقنا ٱلإنسـن من نطفة أمشاج نبتليه فجعلنـه سميعا بصيرا
76:3
Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.
Innaa hadainaahus sabeela immaa shaakiranw wa immaa kafoora
إنا هدينـه ٱلسبيل إما شاكرا وإما كفورا
76:4
Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze.
Innaaa a’tadnaa lilkaa fireena salaasila wa aghlaalanw wa sa’eeraa
إنا أعتدنا للكـفرين سلـسلا وأغلـلا وسعيرا
76:5
Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kāfūr,
Innal abraara yashra boona min kaasin kaana mizaa juhaa kaafooraa
إن ٱلأبرار يشربون من كأس كان مزاجها كافورا
76:6
A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allāh will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].
‘Aynany yashrabu bihaa ‘ibaadul laahi yufajjiroonahaa tafjeeraa
عينا يشرب بها عباد ٱلله يفجرونها تفجيرا
76:7
They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.
Yoofoona binnazri wa yakhaafoona yawman kaana sharruhoo mustateeraa
يوفون بٱلنذر ويخافون يوما كان شرهۥ مستطيرا
76:8
And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,
Wa yut”imoonat ta’aama ‘alaa hubbihee miskeenanw wa yateemanw wa aseeraa
ويطعمون ٱلطعام على حبهۦ مسكينا ويتيما وأسيرا
76:9
[Saying], "We feed you only for the face [i.e., approval] of Allāh. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.
Innaamaa nut’imukum li wajhil laahi laa nureedu minkum jazaaa’anw wa laa shukooraa
إنما نطعمكم لوجه ٱلله لا نريد منكم جزاء ولا شكورا
76:10
Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."
Innaa nakhaafu mir Rabbinna Yawman ‘aboosan qamtareeraa
إنا نخاف من ربنا يوما عبوسا قمطريرا
76:11
So Allāh will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness
Fa waqaahumul laahu sharra zaalikal yawmi wa laqqaahum nadratanw wa surooraa
فوقىهم ٱلله شر ذلك ٱليوم ولقىهم نضرة وسرورا
76:12
And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].
Wa jazaahum bimaa sabaroo janatanw wa hareeraa
وجزىهم بما صبروا جنة وحريرا
76:13
[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.
Muttaki’eena feeha ‘alal araaa ‘iki laa yarawna feehaa shamsanw wa laa zamhareeraa
متكـين فيها على ٱلأرائك لا يرون فيها شمسا ولا زمهريرا
76:14
And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance.
Wa daaniyatan ‘alaihim zilaaluhaa wa zullilat qutoofu haa tazleela
ودانية عليهم ظلـلها وذللت قطوفها تذليلا
76:15
And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass],
Wa yutaafu ‘alaihim bi aaniyatim min fiddatinw wa akwaabin kaanat qawaareeraa
ويطاف عليهم بـانية من فضة وأكواب كانت قواريرا
76:16
Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure.
Qawaareera min fiddatin qaddaroohaa taqdeeraa
قواريرا من فضة قدروها تقديرا
76:17
And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger
Wa yuskawna feehaa kaasan kaana mizaajuhaa zanjabeelaa
ويسقون فيها كأسا كان مزاجها زنجبيلا
76:18
[From] a fountain within it [i.e., Paradise] named Salsabeel.
‘Aynan feeha tusammaa salsabeelaa
عينا فيها تسمى سلسبيلا
76:19
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls.
Wa yatoofu ‘alaihim wildaanum mukhalladoona izaa ra aytahum hasibtahum lu’lu ‘am mansoora
ويطوف عليهم ولدن مخلدون إذا رأيتهم حسبتهم لؤلؤا منثورا
76:20
And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion.
Wa izaa ra ayta samma ra ayta na’eemanw wa mulkan kabeera
وإذا رأيت ثم رأيت نعيما وملكا كبيرا
76:21
Upon them [i.e., the inhabitants] will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.
‘Aaliyahum siyaabu sundusin khudrunw wa istabraq, wa hullooo asaawira min fiddatinw wa saqaahum Rabbuhum sharaaban tahooraa
عـليهم ثياب سندس خضر وإستبرق وحلوا أساور من فضة وسقىهم ربهم شرابا طهورا
76:22
[And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated."
Innaa haazaa kaana lakum jazz ‘anw wa kaana sa’yukum mashkooraa
إن هـذا كان لكم جزاء وكان سعيكم مشكورا
76:23
Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], the Qur’ān progressively.
Innaa nahnu nazzalnaa ‘alaikal quraana tanzeelaa
إنا نحن نزلنا عليك ٱلقرءان تنزيلا
76:24
So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever].
Fasbir lihukmi Rabbika wa laa tuti’ minhum aasiman aw kafooraa
فٱصبر لحكم ربك ولا تطع منهم ءاثما أو كفورا
76:25
And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening
Wazkuris ma Rabbika bukratanw wa aseelaa
وٱذكر ٱسم ربك بكرة وأصيلا
76:26
And during the night prostrate to Him and exalt [i.e., praise] Him a long [part of the] night.
Wa minal laili fasjud lahoo wa sabbihhu lailan taweelaa
ومن ٱليل فٱسجد لهۥ وسبحه ليلا طويلا
76:27
Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them a grave Day.
Inna haaa’ulaa’i yuhibboona ‘aajilata wa yazaroona waraaa’ahum yawman saqeelaa
إن هـؤلاء يحبون ٱلعاجلة ويذرون وراءهم يوما ثقيلا
76:28
We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration.
Nahnu khalaqnaahum wa shadadnaaa asrahum wa izaa shi’naa baddalnaaa amsaala hum tabdeelaa
نحن خلقنـهم وشددنا أسرهم وإذا شئنا بدلنا أمثـلهم تبديلا
76:29
Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way.
Inna haazihee tazkiratun fa man shaaa’at takhaza ilaa rabbihee sabeela
إن هـذهۦ تذكرة فمن شاء ٱتخذ إلى ربهۦ سبيلا
76:30
And you do not will except that Allāh wills. Indeed, Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.
Wa maa tashaaa’oona illaa anyyashaaa’al laah; innal laahaa kaana’Aleeman Hakeema
وما تشاءون إلا أن يشاء ٱلله إن ٱلله كان عليما حكيما
76:31
He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment.
Yudkhilu mai yashaaa’u fee rahmatih; wazzaalimeena a’adda lahum ‘azaaban aleemaa
يدخل من يشاء فى رحمتهۦ وٱلظـلمين أعد لهم عذابا أليما
