It is considered to be a Meccan Surah as it was believed to be revealed in Mecca. This surah takes its name from the word mentioned in the first ayah.
The main theme or subject of this Surah can be divided into 3 topics. The first is the resurrection and contrast between good and evil. Allah has explained in detail that the wicked will go to Hell and what Hell is like. In the same way, he tells that he will go to heaven in good ones and how heaven is.
The second theme is about Allah’s oneness with reference to his beautiful creations of the sky, earth, and mountains. The last subject is prophecy and the duties of the prophets.
The last part of this surah is a clear example of the Quran being secular as the last part states that the prophet Muhammad is not a controller over humans, he is just a reminder/warner and only Allah will punish the unbelievers when they return to the creator.
