It is considered to be a Meccan surah as it was revealed in Mecca. The surah discusses the lives of Solomon and David, a story about the people of Sheba, challenges and warnings against the disbelievers as well as the promises related to the Day of Judgment. The name of the Surah comes from the tribe mentioned in ayat 15 to 21.
The surah starts with praises to God and God’s features. It continues with the criticization of unbelievers. Both prophet Solomon and David briefly talked, and the destruction of the Sheba tribe as a result of the flood.
Other subjects discussed in this surah is how the Devil is followed by the majority of the people except for few believers. God will judge between the believers and disobeyers. As it was discussed in many Surahs, Muhammad was sent only as a warner. God’s prophets have always been opposed by the affluent. God rewards people who are almgiver, generous and helpful.
